Flat rack manufacturing inspection
What is inspected on a flat rack during manufacturing?
At Engineered Land Systems (ELS), we recently welcomed several of our customers to our facilities to inspect a number of flat racks, some of which were still in the manufacturing process, while others had already been fully completed.
These visits provide an opportunity to see first-hand the work behind each unit and directly inspect some of the processes involved in flat rack manufacturing.
Inspection of the welding process
During the visit, our customers were able to observe the welding processes used in the manufacture of the structures.
Welding is one of the key aspects of this type of equipment, as it is directly involved in joining the different structural components that make up each flat rack. Proper execution is essential to achieve a robust structure capable of meeting the demands expected during operation.
Inspecting the units while they are still being manufactured also provides an opportunity to observe details of the process that are no longer visible once certain finishing stages have been completed.
Load testing of the tie-down rings
Another part of the visit involved carrying out load tests on the flat rack tie-down rings.
These tests make it possible to assess how these components perform under the specified loads and verify that they meet the requirements defined for each unit.
Our customers were able to witness the tests first-hand and learn about both the procedure used and the results obtained.
